Diversion

Today, my mundane round was enriched by the need to dismantle my CD player. It stopped working suddenly, and only after many minutes of tinkering did I realize that a CD had slipped out of the turntable and into the mechanism somewhere, in much the same way that a contact lens will unaccountably jaunt off around the eye socket.

This afforded me the pleasure of taking the thing apart, then putting it back together, before I tried simply inverting the player and pressing open. The drawer popped out, and the CD appeared on the bottom of the turntable, covered with grease but otherwise apparently unharmed! This paltry triumph has brightened my day.
