How I spent my earth hour

Powered off! How did you spend earth hour? We switched off the fan and lights in our little cabin here in Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast (sunshine my ass–it has rained almost every day.) I wondered if the news was featuring live coverage of the event, but then they would be reminding people they shouldn’t be watching tv. The last six minutes were the longest, but we survived thanks to the glow from the battery-powered MacBook.
We’re still on the road, but travelling is not turning out to be anything like we planned. At least I finally have internet again, signing up for a service that will follow us around the country but only works where there’s mobile phone reception (alas, slowing to dial-up speeds in remote locations like Alice Springs.)
Unfortunately the car needs a bit of work as well and we can’t drive it around except back to the garage once the part is in. That means we’re cabin-bound at the caravan park, but hopefully get out for some river photos.
